About Betty:
December 19, 1951 – December 31, 2024

Betty was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on December 19, 1951 to Veda Griggs and Dale Dixon. She was raised by her grandparents Ella Mae Griggs and Floyd Griggs. She graduated from Springdale High School and went on to take classes at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR where she met her husband Sam.

Betty and Sam lived in Manipal, India while Sam pursued his education. After returning to the United States, Betty and Sam briefly lived in Little Rock, Arkansas before permanently relocating to the Kansas City area and ultimately settling in Liberty, MO.

Betty was a homemaker. She managed a busy household and always enthusiastically supported the interests and activities of her children. Her enthusiasm and willingness to volunteer led her to become active as a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 374, coordinating cultural arts for Ridgeview Elementary school, volunteering in her children’s classrooms, teaching Sunday School, being a leader in Girl Scouts and numerous other volunteer activities. Missing her grandchildren who lived out of state, Betty decided to provide childcare part time at the YMCA of North Kansas City, Missouri and Holy Cross Church in Gladstone, MO in her later years.

Betty enjoyed board games and game shows, collecting coffee mugs from states she visited, being active in her church Hosanna! Lutheran Church in Liberty, MO, caring for her dog Turtle and the numerous pets who came before him and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her many friends. Betty never met a stranger, making friends everywhere she went.

At the age of 73, Betty passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 31, 2024, after battling two serious illnesses for the last few years of her life.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Samuel T. Hucke III.

Betty is survived by her adult children, Kelly Hucke Driver (Sky) and their children, Damon, Ian and Max Driver of Rio Rancho, NM; Samuel T. Hucke IV (Tracy) and their children, Samuel T. Hucke V, Stella and Georgia Hucke of Cheyenne, WY; Paul Leland Stanford Bryan Hucke (Andrea) and their children, Halle and Harrison Hucke of Olathe, KS and Charles Joseph Watson Bryan Hucke of Kansas City, MO.
