Latest News & Announcements:

Updated September 21:

  • Children’s Faith Formation - We had a great first week of faith formation (“Sunday school”), and we’re looking forward to having something after worship every week throughout the school year.  Faith formation offers a safe space for kids to explore their faith, ask questions, and build relationships. Class time is 10:45-11:30 a.m.

    • On the first and third Sundays of each month, we'll have Kids Crews, where kids can make friends and learn with others of a similar age. Kids will begin with music time in the choir room with Dr. Marple at 10:45. Then they will divide into 3 age groups (preK-K, 1st-3rd grade, 4th-6th grade) to have their own time and space for learning and living the month’s Bible story. At 11:30, teachers will bring students to the fellowship hall to meet their families. Please help your kids get to the choir room (at the end of the hall on the main level of the education wing) and feel free to stay with them if they need additional support.

    • On the second and fourth Sundays of each month, kids and adults will join each other to learn and/or serve, because we believe there is value in intergenerational relationships, and that both kids and adults have faith to share with each other. If you have an idea for a service project or whole-church activity, please talk to Pastor Mike or Alison Kern.

    • It takes a village, so we encourage anyone who is interested to volunteer as a teacher or helper for Sunday school. No experience necessary, and we provide all materials and lesson plans for you! Parents and grandparents are always welcome to join their kids in faith formation. Teens in 7th-12th grades can also volunteer as helpers while we finalize plans for Confirmation and youth group gatherings.

  • Adult Faith Formation - Faith formation doesn’t stop after childhood or confirmation.  Our experience of God continues to grow wider and deeper as we age, and as we encounter God at different times in our lives.  For this reason, we have opportunity for adults to grow in faith on Sundays and other days.

    • On the second and fourth Sundays of each month, adults and kids will gather after worship to learn and/or serve, because we believe there is value in intergenerational relationships, and that both kids and adults have faith to share with each other.

    • On the first and third Sundays of each month, we’re planning for adults to have their own time and space for study and conversation after worship.  We will read through Honoring Our Neighbor’s Faith: A Lutheran Perspective on Faith Traditions in America.  Hundreds of Christian denominations and dozens of non-Christian traditions have followers in the United States.  How do we view this wide variety of beliefs and practices?  How does the Lutheran tradition compare with others?  Each time we meet, we’ll read and discuss one or more different religious traditions, and how learning about them teaches us a little more about ourselves and opens us to God’s movement in the world.

  • Upcoming Faith Formation Calendar:

    • Sept. 24 - Intergenerational

    • Oct. 1 - Kids Crews and Adult Study

    • Oct. 8 - Intergenerational

    • Oct. 15 - Kids Crews and Adult Study
